Adopt A Dog

Are you thinking of bringing a new member into your family? Is that family member that you are thinking about maybe a dog? If so, maybe you should think about adopting a dog or puppy from a local animal shelter. When people think of the phrase, "Adopt a dog", they automatically think of a mangy mutt and that they much rather buy a pure breed, but when you adopt a dog, there is much more heart in it than you think. Many dogs and puppies that are in shelters have either come from a previous home that they were neglected or abused in, or come from the streets where nobody wants them. But when you adopt a dog, you are their rescue, their angel. When you adopt a dog, it is just as rewarding, if not more, than when you purchase a fancier bred dog.

When you adopt a dog, you are saving a life. They are not any more less of an animal or any more disobedient. You can train them the same and teach them to love all the same. You can even adopt an older dog that the past owner was very good to and has already trained, but just can't care for them any longer because of their own needs. You can adopt an older, calmer dog for your younger kids and it will already be properly behaved. Or you can totally start fresh and adopt a puppy that you can have trained yourself and teach it to behave around your children, going on a life long journey with you and your family for years and years to come.

So talk it over with your family and think about adopting a family dog soon. Your family will enjoy taking a trip to the animal shelter and choosing which dog they like best and think is the cutest. The animal shelter will even tell you the dog's background and if they think it is a good addition to your unique family. Dogs up for adoption have also already had their shots so you do not need to be worried.
