Q: What standard items should I keep in a pet emergency kit at home and in the car? I have the usual elastic bandages and gauze, tweezers, tic pickers and blanket; and in my car, a spare leash and a small vacuum-sealed pack of treats (to lure a dog away from danger). Summer is technically flea season, so infestations of the tiny, biting pests should be decreasing as fall weather approaches, but veterinarians on the Coast say that’s just wishful thinking.

Fall allergies seem to be worse this season for dogs and cats, thanks to the wet weather and cooler temperatures.
