At the beginning of treatment, the canine will be weighed by the veterinarian so an accurate dosing measurement can be prescribed. Each month the veterinarian should weigh the dog and adjust the dosage according to the current weight of the animal. Once the dog has reached its ideal weight, the veterinarian will prescribe a dosage amount that will be consistent for three months post-treatment to maintain the weight of the dog. Administering and altering doses of Slentrol dirlotapide should be done only under the supervision of a veterinarian. Dosage amounts are based on the weight of the dog and are adjusted month-by-month based on the dog’s weight loss as recorded and supervised by the veterinarian.
Slentrol dirlotapide comes as an oral solution in quantities of 20 mL, 50 mL, and 150 mL bottles with a pre-calibrated oral syringe for administering the medication. To fill the syringe, remove the cap on the bottle, insert tip of syringe through membrane, invert bottle and fill according to designated marks on side of syringe. Slentrol can be given orally with or without food.
NOTE: The syringe should be wiped clean with a clean, dry cloth or disposable towel after each use. Do not clean the syringe with water or allow water to mix into the Slentrol solution.
