Before applying Optimmune to a dog’s eye, be sure to thoroughly clean your own hands and remove any debris, which may be around the dog’s eye with a nonirritating solution. Apply a ¼ of an inch strip of the Optimmune eye ointment to the inner part of the dog’s lower eye lid every twelve hours. If possible try and hold your dog’s eyelid shut and gently rub the eyelid to circulate the ointment throughout the eye. Caution should be taken while applying the ointment as it is sterile. If the tube and cap of the medicated ointment become contaminated it can cause further infections to the eye. Although this medication is for use in all dogs, always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian.
