Adverse reactions to Capstar tablets are rare. Cats and dogs may begin to scratch themselves as fleas begin to die and fall away from their bodies. This is not an allergic reaction. The scratching is a reaction to the fleas, not the medication, and will subside. Very rarely, this reaction may present in cats as signs of hyperactivity, panting, excessive grooming and vocalization.
