For Dogs
If your dog weighs 20 lbs or less, apply Advantage (imidacloprid) as follows:
1. Take one applicator out of the package.
2. Hold the applicator straight up and down and pull off the cap.
3. Turn the cap around and place the opposite end of the cap back on the applicator.
4. Twist the cap to break the seal and then remove the cap from the tube.
5. Have your dog stand during the application. Part the hair between the dog’s shoulder blades on his/her back until the skin is visible. 6. Discard empty tube by securely wrapping in several layers of newspaper and discarding in trash.
If your dog weighs 21 lbs or more, apply Avantage (imidacloprid) as follows:
Follow the same directions as listed above, except in step 5, rather than applying the contents of the applicator to just one single spot, apply the contents of the applicator to three or four spots along the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail.
For Cats
To treat your kitten or cat with Advantage (imidacloprid) , apply Advantage as follows:
1. Take one applicator out of the package.

3. Turn the cap around and place the opposite end of the cap back on the applicator.
4. Twist the cap to break the seal and then remove the cap from the tube.

Treatment at the base of the skull will minimize the opportunity for the cat to lick the product.
6. Discard empty tube by securely wrapping in several layers of newspaper and discarding in trash.
Do not reuse empty container.
For effective flea control, treatment of the pet should be combined with the sanitation of any area used by the pet. Vacuum floors, carpets and furniture (discard vacuum bag after use) and wash the pet’s bedding, living quarters and surrounding areas. If pest problems persist, an insecticidal premise treatment may be required.
